Day 16: Valley of Fire SP
and Hoover Dam, NV

Tuesday, September 26, 2000

When we got up it was, of course, light again and we were able to see just where had ended up. Once again we saw a strange looking scenery, only this time we were actually in the middle of it! We were also happy to be in a warmer 'climate'. After breakfast we had a look around Valley of Fire SP.

In the afternoon we went to the visitor centre in Las Vegas to book a hotel. We picked the Stratosphere hotel and booked for two nights, Wednesday- and Thursdaynight. It was a good thing we weren't staying on Friday or over the weekend, because that would have been much more expensive. After we had arranged the hotel we went to see Hoover dam. Unfortunately we were a bit late, so we couldn't join any guided tours, but we could do a lot on our own. It's high up there on that dam!
We stayed at Valley of Fire SP, with its chipmunks and bats, for one more night.
We drove 200 miles today.
