Day 15:Bryce Canyon NP
& Zion NP, UT

Monday, September 25, 2000

We left Escalante at 9 AM and arrived at Bryce Canyon NP two hours later. We were very impressed by what we found there, a breathtaking landscape of sharp pointy rocks, called hoodoos. It was very sunny, but quite chilly. Apparently in that area it freezes at night most of the year. To be honest we only spent a few hours at Bryce. We had visited quite a lot of National Parks in a short period and were also going to see Zion NP that same day, so we rushed it a bit. Still we got a great impression.

We arrived at Zion NP around 2:30 in the afternoon and took the Shuttle bus to the starting point of a short hike, the emerald pool trail. This led to a small fall, which you might be able to see in the pictures below.
We left Zion at about 5:30 and drove on to Nevada, to Valley of Fire State Park, near Las Vegas. By the time we got there, it was almost 9 and it was already dark, but we managed to find the campground and put up our tents anyhow.
We drove 302 miles today.
