Day 5 & 6: Joshua Tree NP, CA
and Lake Havasu City, AZ

We left Los Angeles and drove eastward to Joshua Tree National Park. This NP is located in a part of the Mojave Desert and Colorado Desert and we found it was pretty hot! After stopping by at the Visitor Centre we drove into the park to have a look around. It was great, the oddly shaped rocks and weird looking Joshua trees provide an extroardinary environment. Also we were lucky to meet a real life coyote which of course only wanted to get some food from us.
In the evening we drove on to Parker, Arizona, where it was already dark but still very hot when we arrived. We set up our tents at Buckskin Mountain State Park.
We drove 370 miles today.

At Parker we decided to split up for a day or two. Igor and I wanted to go to Havasu Canyon while Wendy and Marco would be staying at a KOA in Kingman. We made sure all necessary arrangements were made before leaving Parker. We went along Parker Dam and stopped at Lake Havasu City to see the original London Bridge. This bridge once stood in London, Great Britain, was bought when it was replaced and rebuilt in the Arizona desert.
At Kingman we dropped off Wendy and Marco at the KOA, helped them unload their stuff and had dinner together. After dinner Igor and I said goodbye and drove to Peach Springs, where we checked in at the Grand Canyon Caverns Inn, in order to be as close as possible to the starting point for our trip the next day.
We drove 181 miles today.
