Facilities A look around the campground the best place to take a picture Our tentsite

Today we said goodbye to the hotel and went on our way to find the campground in the Santa Monica Mountains. We found it at Malibu Creek State Park. The surroundings were absolutely impressive and quite the opposite from what we'd seen of the city. We put up our tents in the middle of the day when it was very hot, which probably wasn't very smart, but we managed.

We spent the afternoon driving around Los Angeles, seeing the sights, among which Santa Monica Blvd from start to finish, making a tour of Beverly Hills as well and taking a walk on Santa Monica Pier. Of course we also went to take a closer look at the Hollywood Sign.

This was our 'Universal'-day. After arranging breakfast we drove to Universal City, where we spent the whole day at Universal Studios. We started off at 'Jurassic Park, the Ride' and had a blast - or rather: splash! We also visited ET, Terminator 2 and other attractions and we took a tour of the studios, of which most of the pictures are taken.
We spent our evening at Universal City walk, where we had dinner and looked around in the shops.

Oh, what a ride! More Universal Studios Splash zone Marco lost his head...

Our last day in LA for a while; we'd planned to be back here a few days before we had to go home again. We finally found a shopping centre nearby and a public library where we were able to send some e-mails. We got some help from a lady who appeared to be Dutch by birth.
We spent the afternoon taking care of practical matters: at a hardware store we got directions to a "Big 5" for camping supplies, so we could buy some Campingaz to be able to cook for ourselves. Also we found an office of the AAA where we got loads of maps and useful guides - highly recommended: make sure you get an AAA-pass through your own Automobile club.

We spent the evening at a Dodgers' game. We had bought tickets months in advance to make sure we could be there. We were surprised to find that one of our preconceptions about Americans turned out to be wrong: we weren't allowed to bring our cool box into the stadium.
We bought some caps, had cotton candy and hot dogs and had a good time. ....unfortunately the Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies by 5 to 4.
